What’s the difference between the Santander Edge, Edge Up and Edge Explorer current account?

Santander Edge Explorer current account is our only account in the range that comes with insurance benefits. It also gives you cashback on selected household bills and essential debit card spend.

Santander Edge and Edge Up give you cashback on selected household bills but they don’t come with any insurance benefits or cashback on debit card spend.

How do I make a claim?

The easiest way to make a claim is by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app

If you’re unable to submit a claim online for example, if you’ve lost your phone and are using someone else’s devices, you can call instead. 

What happens to my insurance benefits when I close my Santander Edge Explorer current account?

You'll lose your insurance benefits if you close your Santander Edge Explorer current account. This means you'll also lose your insurance online access. You can still register a claim for any incident that took place while your Santander Edge Explorer current account was open. You can do this by phoning our insurance partners. Existing claims will not be affected.

Account benefits

You can find the insurance policy documents in the ‘Key Documents’ section on the Santander Edge Explorer page. We also sent you copies when we opened your account. You can also find these documents by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app
 

Your 24/7 GP remote access, mobile phone insurance and travel insurance will be active as soon as your Santander Edge Explorer current account is opened. Your breakdown cover will start 24 hours after your account is opened.

To be covered for any pre-existing medical conditions on your travel insurance, you must tell Chubb about them once your account is opened. If you don't, your policy might be invalid. This could result in all or part of a claim being declined if it's in relation to a medical condition that you haven't told Chubb about.
 

You can do this as soon as your account is opened by logging in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app, or by calling Chubb on 0800 519 8034 (lines are open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday).
 

If you have other insurances that you’re planning to keep alongside your Santander Edge Explorer current account, you might be paying for extra cover you don’t need. You won’t be able to make the same claim twice.

You should also consider if the Santander Edge Explorer current account is suitable for you and provides you with good value. If you don’t need some of the insurance benefits that come with this account, you’ll still pay the same monthly fee to maintain this account.
 

You'll lose your insurance benefits if you close your Santander Edge Explorer current account. This means you'll also lose your insurance online access. You can still register a claim for any incident that took place while your Santander Edge Explorer current account was open. You can do this by phoning our insurance providers. Existing claims will not be affected. If you've bought any insurance upgrades, or extra product options, the insurance provider will get in touch with you directly.
 

The insurance benefits will be provided to the named account holder(s). Other third parties authorised to manage the account on behalf of the account holder(s) are not entitled to the insurance benefits.
 

Claims

It’s quick and easy to submit an online claim, just log in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app. To submit an online claim:

  1. Log in to your Santander Online Banking or Mobile Banking app
  2. On the first page after logging in, look for your Santander Edge Explorer current account.
  3. Next, click on 'See your cover’.
  4. Locate the insurance provider you’d like to submit a claim for and click on the ‘Take me to…’ button.
  5. You’ll then be asked whether you’d like to continue to the insurance provider’s website.

If you need to make a claim or update your cover details online, use the 'Take me to…' buttons to contact the insurers directly.

Travel Insurance – Chubb

If you're abroad, in need of emergency help, call Chubb Assistance on +44 203 964 3336. Lines are open 24/7.

For non-emergency, call Chubb on 0800 519 8035 if you're calling from the UK or call on +44 203 964 3335 if you're calling from abroad. Lines are open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

24/7 GP remote access – Teladoc

To contact Teladoc please call on 0203 695 6364. Lines are open 24/7.

Breakdown cover – Allianz Assistance

If you're in the UK, please call the 24-hour breakdown assistance on 0800 587 9811. If you're abroad, please call +44 20 343 3388. Lines are open 24/7.

Mobile phone insurance – Likewize

If you require assistance with accessing online services or do not have online access, please call on 0800 088 5819 if you are calling from the UK or call on +44 800 088 5819 if you are calling from abroad. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday 9am–6pm, and Sunday 10am–5pm. Bank Holidays lines are open 10am-5pm. Please note the contact centre is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
 

There are a number of options to suit you. Likewize offer ‘We Come To You’ repairs, where you can have your mobile phone repaired in a van at a UK address that is convenient to you. You can ask for this when you submit your claim online.
