Don’t get left in the cold. Boiler insurance could save the day if your boiler breaks down. You’ll also get the confidence of knowing this expensive bit of kit in your home is well cared for.
What is boiler insurance?
Boiler insurance, which you can get as part of home insurance, can help you cover the cost of fixing your boiler if something goes wrong. You’ll usually be covered if your boiler stops working because of a mechanical failure.
Typically, you’ll also get an annual boiler service, which means an engineer will come out yearly to check your boiler is in good shape. This can help protect you against those unexpected breakdowns.
Taking out cover means that you won’t have to go without heating or hot water if you do have a boiler breakdown.
Types of cover for your boiler
Protection for your boiler can come in a few shapes and sizes. Here are a few different options for covering your boiler.
Boiler-only cover Covers the boiler and its controls only. Often includes an annual boiler service. | Boiler and central heating cover Protection for your whole central heating system, including pipes, radiators and pumps. | Home emergency cover Cover for your boiler, central heating, plumbing, and more. |
Is there a right time to get boiler insurance?
Fixing a boiler can be expensive. Taking out boiler cover as soon as you can means you won’t have to pay for those unexpected bills if it's outside the warranty period.
The golden rule is that if you rely on your boiler for heating and hot water, then you should think about taking out cover.
You could take out boiler insurance if you’re:
- moving house
- having regular boiler problems
- your boiler’s warranty is expiring
- getting ready for those cold winter months.
