With the nervous wait for A level and Higher results over, and the preparations and packing for university beginning, Santander UK is offering 200 students the chance to kick-start their new term with an extra £500 in their bank, as part of its latest prize draw1.
The £100,000 prize draw, which is open to full-time or part-time undergraduates of any year or postgraduates continuing with their studies, offers students the opportunity to give their finances a boost as many prepare to tackle rent and bills for the first time, alongside the cost of textbooks and study resources.
All students, whether Santander customers or not, can apply by registering on the Santander Scholarship Platform and enrolling into the prize draw. The deadline for applications is 11pm on the 31 October 2023. By registering to the Scholarship Platform, students will also be kept up to date on all new initiatives from Santander Universities including future grants, prize draws and skills programmes.
Supporting students on their journey through higher education is a key priority for Santander. Over the last decade, Santander’s 1|2|3 Student Current Account2 has helped hundreds of thousands to manage their finances whilst also making the most of their money through the range of benefits it offers, including a free four-year Santander 16-25 Railcard which saves students a third on most rail travel around Great Britain. The free four-year Railcard, now also available in a digital format3, saves students an average of £182 a year4.
Santander’s 1|2|3 Student Current Account is available to open online and to all students, regardless of their year of study5.
In addition to the free four-year Railcard, the Santander account offers:
- A guaranteed interest-free overdraft of £1,500 in the first year of study for customers accepted for the Santander 1|2|3 Student Account. This can increase up to £1,800 in the fourth year and up to £2,000 in the fifth year (subject to status, and if students continue with their studies);
- Cashback, vouchers, prize draws and other offers available through our free rewards program, Santander Boosts;
- Personalised spending analysis to help customers stay on top of their spending through My Money Manager;
- A contactless debit card, digital banking (Mobile Banking app and Online Banking) and contactless payments with an Apple, Android or Samsung device;
Santander UK also has a range of budgeting tools and tips to cut spending on food shops and energy bills alongside specific help and support for students and apprentices, many of whom will soon find themselves responsible for household bills and managing their wider finances for the first time.
