Santander Group awards over 36,000 scholarships, mobility grants and internships in 2016

Santander has strengthened its commitment to higher education and young students from around the world by awarding over 36,300 new scholarships for university students, teachers and researchers in 2016.

Out of these, 44% will be Santander Mobility Grants, 32% will be Santander Internships in SMEs and 24% will be Study Scholarships.

With over 1,200 partnerships in 21 countries, and 2,100 people working for universities around the world, Santander Group, through Santander Universities, has become the biggest contributor to global corporate education CSR according to a report of companies in the Fortune Global 500 (Varkey / UNESCO-Fortune 500 Report, 2015).

Santander will allocate 169 million euros this year, an increase of 5.6% from 2015, to support universities and students to boost their employability and entrepreneurial skills.

6,807 scholarships in the UK
Out of the more than 36,300 scholarships awarded by Santander Group, 6,807 will be for UK universities, focusing on the promotion of international mobility of students, internships in SMEs, and supporting young people enter the labour market.

In 2016, more than one and a half million students and academics at UK universities will benefit from Santander Universities collaboration and support for the Higher Education sector.
