- Cheshire-based Electrification Construction Services (ECS) set to increase workforce for new rail and civil engineering projects
- Santander UK supports ECS’ growth plans with six-figure funding
- New funding equips ECS to take on new business and grow turnover
Rail and civil engineering company, Electrification Construction Services (ECS), based near Crewe, is on track to expand its workforce and take on new business opportunities following funding from Santander UK.
Santander UK has provided ECS with a six-figure finance support package tailored to its unique needs. This has increased the working capital available to ECS, enabling it to grow its workforce and, crucially, take on new business opportunities with its existing clients. It currently has 85 engineering and construction professionals on its books, which it places on engineering projects across the UK, and it plans to increase this workforce by 30% following this funding. Additionally, ECS has moved its day-to-day banking to Santander UK.
ECS provides a wide range of services to the engineering and construction sector, including overhead line electrification, railway isolations and safety critical resources, civil engineering, vegetation management, specialist rope access and road-rail plant. The business has been growing strongly and is targeting an increase in turnover of a third over the next year.
Shane Williams, Managing Director, ECS commented: “We are pleased to have the support and investment from Santander UK. The additional funding will allow the growth of our business, increasing our workforce within existing capabilities. Furthermore, the funding will also allow us to add additional services to our offering, including specialist rail welding capabilities and rail training, which will help us to meet our clients’ needs.”
Alan Horton, Head of Invoice Finance Origination at Santander UK, said: “The engineering sector is continuing to grow strongly due to ongoing Government investment in critical infrastructure projects across the country. We are delighted to support ECS in expanding its work in this important industry through our funding arrangement, which gives it the freedom to take on new business and grow.”
