• Jalin Design produces bespoke uniforms for high-end establishments including prestigious hotels
• £250k CBILS loan agreed over six years to support business’s fixed operating costs
Bespoke uniform creator, Jalin Design, has secured a loan of £250k from Santander UK through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) to support the business through the coronavirus pandemic.
Created ten years ago by husband and wife Jason Lurie and Lindy Kursten, Jalin Design creates high end uniforms for some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and members’ clubs, including Four Seasons, The Dorchester and Brown’s Hotel. As global restrictions were placed on many hospitality and leisure establishments, demand for bespoke uniforms decreased.
Jalin Design, which employs 14 people, offers a full design, development and delivery service to create uniform collections for its customers and has been an official brand partner for Forbes Travel Guide. The company has also established itself as a specialist in stunt and crowd costumes with flagship projects including Star Wars and Cinderella.
The CBILS lending facility from Santander will enable Jalin Design to cover its fixed operating costs during the outbreak, and ensure the business is able to quickly resume activity once restrictions are lifted.
Lindy Kursten, Owner, Jalin Design, said: “No business could have planned for Covid-19, ours being no exception. Our business was on a major growth trajectory before this all happened, and the hospitality and entertainment industry were completely shut down. With the CBILS loan we are able to secure the company for the difficult months to come while our industry slowly recovers.”
Raj Shankar, Relationship Manager, Santander UK, said: “I have been supporting Jalin Design since 2017 and have seen the business grow exponentially during this time –from a relatively small business to a high growth company. Jalin has built a strong customer base in a short time, producing high end pieces that are unique to them. I was happy to assist Jalin and look forward to continuing to do so for the months and years ahead.”
In order to ensure the business was able to secure the funding package it required, the corporate and commercial team worked closely with the relationship team to support this request from Jalin Design. It took just four working days for the finance package to be made available to the customer.
