Chesterfield-based West Bromwich-based CBS Packaging Group, one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers of corrugated cardboard packaging, is set to purchase a new site in Benfleet, Essex, following £1.75 million in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial. The move comes as the firm caters for record demand from its client base.
CBS Packaging Group is a family business, founded in 1996 by brothers Jitha, Jan, Jagdishan, Mantir and Jurloden Singh. It’s one of the few independent manufacturers in the UK which has its own paper supply, fully functioning corrugating machines as well as design teams.
Over the past 20 years, the firm has grown to become one of the largest companies in its sector, with a turnover of £27 million for the most recent financial year. The business acquired Connect Packaging in 2013 and has since invested in state-of-the-art digital printing technology which has revolutionised its production process and opened up new markets in the POS (point of sale) sector.
The £1.75 million funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will be used to acquire the freehold premise in Essex, which will significantly expand production, as well as help the firm to increase the number of sales and customer service staff. Overall, the firm now employs some 225 people across the UK.

We have already invested in new digital technology, a four colour servo driven quick set case maker and a five colour rotary servo die cutter in the past year.”
