Apply or switch online

If you're in your 2nd year of university or above, you must switch an account from another provider to us as part of your application.

We recommend you provide us the address where you're registered on the electoral roll and you'll need to provide proof of your course.

Important to know

You will need your UCAS 4-digit status code as proof of study in your application. You can find your code by logging onto UCAS.

If you didn’t apply for university through UCAS, or are studying an apprenticeship you can provide:

  • a student ID card

  • a letter from your higher education provider, or 

  • an apprenticeship confirmation from your university or employer.

  • You might need to provide proof of id, such as photo ID or proof of your address.

Paper-free

  • We’ll send your statements and other important information to your e-Documents section in Online Banking.
  • Once your account has been open for 24 hours you can ask to receive your statements and important information by post using Online Banking, in one of our branches or by phone.

If you’re applying on behalf of other applicants, you must have permission to act on their behalf, for example as Power of Attorney or Deputy. If this is the case, please make sure you use their details during the application.  If you’d like to be registered to act on the accounts, complete our Power of Attorney registration form online or call 0800 414 8414 if you’re already registered. During the application, you’ll be asked if you want to hear about products, services and offers that might be of interest. Please note, the preferences you select will apply to all applicants and will override any previous preferences given. If you, or any joint account holder, would like to change those preferences, please contact us at any time.​
